Welcome to the homepage of Willy Eisenschitz!

Willy Eisenschitz is one of the most important Austrian artists of the 20th century, who got less attention in his home country for a long time. Only in the last 15 years the artist became more and more known in Austria, although he received artistic recognition in his adopted nation very early.

Willy Eisenschitz came to Paris to study at the academy and met a young student Claire Bertrand; they fell in love and Eisenschitz stayed in France for the rest of his life. A trip to the Provence was like a key moment for his artistic development, he dedicated his work to the atmosphere and charm of this kind of landscapes. The high of his art was in the 1930s in France, he exhibited in the museum in Toulon and in the gallery Durand-Ruel. Eisenschitz was honored with the gold medal  on the World Exhibition in Paris and many of his works were acquired by important collections and museums.
